Champion Business Leader

Kristen Nester - FAFB

Kristen Nester is the 92nd Civil Engineer Squadron Installation Management Flight Chief for Fairchild Air Force Base and has supported the Commute Smart program for the last 25 years.

Kristen believes the Commute Smart program is an employee benefit that has minimal direct costs for the positive impact to quality of life it provides. It’s also very valuable in recruiting, retaining, and overall employee satisfaction.

She also feels FAFB employees benefit from their Commute Smart program by reducing stress, strengthening a work/life balance – thus improving overall quality of life.

Using commute options also reduces congestion at gate access points, provides predictability to work schedules, and supports Team Fairchild’s efforts to be outstanding community partners by reducing the impacts to roads, congestion, and air quality.

Kristen states, “FAFB has been fortunate to have had strong senior leadership support for their program for many years. We’ve had over 10 different base commanders come and go but they all have a “why” for supporting the program whether it’s employee quality of life, community partnering, the legal and/or right thing to do, the positive recognition – there is always a reason – or many reasons - to support the program.”
