Champion Commuter

Danielle Nybo, City of Spokane – Public Safety

Danielle is a Court Clerk for the City of Spokane – Public Safety. Danielle began working for the city at a different site, but after accepting a job at the Public Safety building, she immediately began riding the bus. Danielle says, “There are so many reasons I ride the bus. I don’t have to pay to park, less driving in traffic, I save so much money, it helps to reduce pollution and it’s super relaxing to just be on the bus and not have to worry about other drivers! I’ve also saved so much money on gas and it has lowered my insurance because my car is parked.”

Danielle doesn’t feel she has too many obstacles riding the bus other than the 45-minute commute to work and back, a little extra walking which she likes to count as a healthy benefit, and every once in a while, she gets to witness an “event” while riding the bus. Recently her daughter has been riding the bus to school. So, they get on the bus at the same time and ride together until her daughter gets off at school. She enjoys the extra time they get to spend together. She does encourage fellow employees to use commute options.

She hasn’t converted anyone yet but continues to share the benefits and the convenience! She enjoys the fact that she’s been able to meet other city employees on the bus, whom she wouldn’t otherwise get to know. ETC, Angie Napolitano, says “I am impressed at how quickly Danielle recognized the wonderful benefits of riding the bus and her enthusiasm to share those benefits with those around her.”

Congratulations Danielle!
