Champion Commuter

Tim Lewis, City of Spokane – Water Dept.

Tim is a GIS Technician for the City of Spokane – Water Department. Tim has worked a 4/10 work schedule since he began working for the City of Spokane over 11 years ago. During COVID 19, Tim was able to begin teleworking 2-3 days a week and he’s been able to continue to do so since.

Teleworking allows him to save money on gas, wear & tear on his vehicle, and a little extra sleep a couple days a week.

Working a 4/10 schedule, Tim’s only required to drive into work 2 days a week, which is great considering he drives from Coeur d’Alene, and has a 70-mile round trip commute. Tim also travels most weekends, so although 10-hour days can be long, having every Friday off, works great for him.

Since logging his trips on his calendar, Tim has saved nearly 20,000 miles on his vehicle by compressing his work schedule and teleworking.

ETC, Karrie Shupe, states “Tim fills out his calendar each month without complaint and never needs reminding. He is very outspoken about traffic congestion and how using commute options can reduce it.

Congratulations Tim!!
