Champion Commuter
Tera Lessard - WSU
Tera Lessard is an Accreditation Specialist for Continuing Medical Education at the WSU Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine. Over the last 22 years, Tera has lived in several different cities but has always tried to ride the bus or bike to work when it worked.
Several years ago, she was blogging about 30-day sustainability challenges. One of her challenges was not driving for 30 days. For each of her challenges, parts of the changes remained after the 30 days ended and alternative commuting was one of them.
When she bikes to work, she counts that as her daily exercise - no need to squeeze in additional cardo into her schedule. She arrives at work or home refreshed with a clear mind.
When she takes the bus to work, she’s able to incorporate an outdoor walk to-and-from the bus-stop, observing how natures changes through the seasons. She gets time to read or listen to podcasts.
Tera admits her biggest challenge is “time”. It takes a little longer to commute by bus or bike, so there is advanced planning involved. But she continues to do so because it makes her life better.
ETC, Amy Rosema, states “Tera is very dedicated to living a life that is sustainable and healthy. Congratulations Tera!
