Commute Champion

Kim Prisock, WA State Dept. of Ecology

Kim Prisock is a dedicated environmental engineer at WA State Dept. of Ecology and a true Commute Smart Champion. Over her 12-year tenure, Kim has diligently tracked her green commuting choices, saving an impressive 2,100 trips and 76,000 miles on her 18-mile one-way commute to the office.

Kim’s sustainable transportation leadership spans over a decade. Before joining the Department of Ecology, she registered her previous employer as a voluntary Commute Smart site and served as their ETC. Upon starting her role at the Dept. of Ecology in 2014, Kim continued to lead by example, relying daily on local transit routes before later establishing a carpool routine with her husband.

Today, she primarily teleworks from home, a flexible arrangement that perfectly matches her deep professional and personal passion for protecting regional air and water quality. This option saves valuable time and money, while providing the fun perk of working from home with the family dog.

Kim utilizes monthly calendar reminders to update her commute calendar. Her family recently escalated their commitment to environmental stewardship by downsizing to a single hybrid SUV. While managing work schedules, daily errands, and their son’s sports practices with just one vehicle requires significant extra coordination, Kim remains dedicated to making it work seamlessly.
