Champion Commuter

Karrie Liljenberg, Inland Imaging Business Associates

Karrie is a Hospital Cash Application Specialist for Inland Imaging Business Associates and has been riding the bus for over 25 years. She doesn’t drive, so riding the bus allows her to stay independent while ensuring her mobility. When the bus doesn’t work, Karrie has the option to carpool with her husband and is able to work from home 1 day per week.

Karrie also gets in her daily exercise, with a ½ mile walk to her bus stops. She even gets a little extra exercise walking a couple of blocks up the hill from her bus stop downtown to her office on 8th Avenue. Karrie feels her only real challenge is walking to and from her bus stops in the snow and ice. But she uses a walking stick that helps her with stability.

She appreciates that Inland Imaging provides fully subsidized transit passes, making her commuting costs absolutely nothing. She enjoys getting to know other riders on her bus, seeing familiar faces on the bus and visiting makes the commute more enjoyable.

Karrie’s been logging her trips since April 2006. She has reduced nearly 124,000 miles off Spokane County roads and has saved over $35,000!

ETC, Robin Parse, says “Karrie has been a dedicated Commute Smart participant for 19 years and continues to be an outstanding role model for sustainable commuting.”

Congratulations Karrie!
