Champion Commuter
Kari Jenson - Goodwill Industries
Kari Jenson is an HR Specialist III for Goodwill Industries of the Inland Northwest.
Kari is legally blind, so she’s used some sort of commute option her entire adult life. She mainly carpools with her husband but will take public transportation or will carpool with another employee, if needed. Kari’s ETC, Sandi Hamilton, has been very helpful with finding coworkers who live close to Kari. Kari likes to joke that it’s safer with her in the passenger seat than behind the wheel!
Since she began logging her trips on the calendar in 2007, Kari has carpooled over 4,000 times, removed over 37,000 miles off our roads and has saved nearly $11,000 in commuting costs!
Although she doesn’t have any other option to commute to work, Kari enjoys the positive impacts using commute options has on the environment and believes in the goals of Commute Smart NW.
By carpooling, Kari enjoys the extra time she gets to spend with her husband and getting to know her coworkers better. She also appreciates taking in the beauty of the parks and the river during her commute.
ETC, Sandi Hamilton states “Kari is one of the few employees who on a consistent basis completes her online commute calendar without fail. I appreciate her due diligence with the commute program and her dedication does not go unnoticed and very much appreciated”.
Congratulations Kari!
