Commute Champion
Josh Greene, Airway Heights Corrections Center
Josh is a true Commute Smart Champion who lets no barrier disrupt his sustainable travel habits. Since June 2022, Josh has diligently logged his travel on his commute calendar, saving an impressive 391 trips and 12,512 miles.
For his substantial 16-mile one-way commute, he relies on riding his e-bike, riding STA RideShare or utilizing public transit or a combination of all 3 on the same day! Even his service as a National Guard reservist, which included overseas deployments during his 17-year tenure, only briefly pauses his routine; he quickly resumes alternative commuting upon returning home.
Josh’s primary motivations are saving on fuel and reducing vehicle maintenance costs, alongside the physical and mental health benefits of regular exercise. He finds biking, Ridesharing and transit relaxing and completely stress-free. Riding the bus or in a STA RideShare maximizes his productivity, allowing him to check evening emails so he arrives at work fully up to speed.
Overcoming a long-distance commute requires exceptional dedication. Josh routinely wakes up early to ensure seamless bus connections. He relies on the STA app to map out transit routes for midday appointments, maintaining complete flexibility despite his demanding work schedule. His strategic planning and unwavering commitment to using options instead of driving alone perfectly embody the spirit of a Commute Smart Champion.
