Champion Commuter

Jason Lien, Spokane Regional Transportation Council

Jason Lien is the Transportation Planning Manager for Spokane Regional Transportation Council. He truly lives the values that SRTC promotes and has been dedicated to sustainable transportation while working there for the past nine years.

With a four-mile one-way commute, Jason typically rides his bike or buses into work. Jason also works a compressed schedule and works from home. Jason enjoys tracking his daily trips, and during those last nine years, he’s saved nearly 1500 trips and removed over 10,000 miles off our Spokane County roads.

Jason has a genuine commitment to the environment and to living a well-rounded, intentional lifestyle. He understands that individual choices add up and can make a meaningful impact on the community. Beyond his own commute habits, he actively encourages others to get involved leading SRTC’s annual Bike to Work day through the wellness program and sharing his passion for bicycling with staff. He also organizes the annual river cleanup.

ETC Anadia Grier shares, “Jason always goes above and beyond to practice sustainable commuting. He intentionally chooses alternatives like biking and carpooling for outreach events, showing great adaptability whether he is driving his coworkers or riding along with them.”
