Commute Smart Downtown is a one-year grant program available to Spokane's City Center. This community-based outreach initiative—a collaboration between the City of Spokane, Spokane Transit, Gonzaga University, and the Downtown Spokane Partnership—aims to help employers with fewer than 100 employees develop commute programs that encourage riding transit, bicycling, carpooling, vanpooling, or walking to work.
By fostering these habits, we help build a more connected, sustainable, and vibrant downtown where both businesses and employees thrive. Employers who offer these options often see reduced absenteeism, higher productivity, and improved recruitment and retention.
Participating businesses and their employees can receive the following perks:
- 2 FREE Months of STA Connect Cards per employee ($120 value)
- 2 FREE Months of STA Rideshare (Vanpool) fares per employee ($120 value)
- FREE Emergency Ride Home program startup funds ($120)
- FREE Bicycling and/or Walking Safety Kits
- FREE Bike Rack Storage (up to $750)
- FREE Reserved Rideshare Parking Signs
Our team at Commute Smart NW will help you tailor a program to your company’s unique needs while improving your team's work-life balance. We make it easy to get started by providing turn-key marketing materials, requiring less than one hour of administrative time per month.
